next problem started shortly after the first band started playing. first it was problems with the bass, and the volume wasnt right. Then it moved on to the drums, and it making this annoying high pitched bang noise, somewhat resembling a gunshot. that took 2 songs to fix. its almost as if they didnt even do a sound check. it was appaling, possibly the worst gig i've been too. and i've been to some really shitty gigs, for christ sakes i've been to better gigs at abuhan dos, and i only payed 30 bucks for that one. as opposed to the 100 i payed to go to that fiasco.
And finally bringing into the title of this little reaction/rant. greyhoundz came up after a dissapointing urbandub set. To which it seemed that they made more of an effort towards the theatrics than actually presenting anything tangible to enjoy. the sound quality was sad to say the least. the vocalists mic seemed like it kept shorting out and breaking down when he screamed, and producing nothing at all. At that point i proceeded to the back of the venue and bought a drink, then i proceeded to the bleechers, it happens again and again, more theatrics lit up barrels, smoke everywhere, but nothing tangible that i could enjoy. so at that point i left. left in my car on the way home to think about what is a good balance between theatrics and the product your trying to present. too mich theatrics take away from your material, too little makes it seem plain. what is the balance, in all honesty, im not really one for theatrics unless the music is adding to the theatrics, if its the theatrics that are supposedly adding to the music then it becomes cheap and tacky. but thats me. |
